Some of these trails go through hunting areas, so hikers need to wear fluorescent orange during hunting season for safety. The trails are open throughout the year from sunrise to sunset, giving visitors plenty of time to explore and enjoy the natural surroundings. The Butterfly Trail is an easy 1.5-mile loop, perfect for a relaxing walk. This grass trail was specifically designed to support butterfly preservation. This 2-mile trail is fairly easy, making it a great choice for a leisurely hike. You can fish from the shore, on a boat, or even from an ADA-accessible pier located near the main boat launch in the center of the park. Some of the common fish you'll find here include largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, yellow perch, and channel catfish. At one point, tiger muskellunge were introduced to control a non-native species, but they haven’t been stocked in the lake for over a decade since the issue was resolved. Whether you want to fire up a bass boat to chase trophy largemouth bass, enjoy a relaxing day of pan fishing, or wade through the stunning limestone creeks in search of big browns, you’ll find it all here. Anglers come from all over Pennsylvania because the fishing is fantastic. Late May and early June are prime times for crappie fishing, while bass fishing can be a thrilling challenge, even for seasoned pros. With 24 miles of shoreline, the lake features varying depths and structures, from shallow rocky flats to hidden ledges. You can rent boat slips seasonally or daily. They also have handy services like a small grocery store, boat towing, repairs, rentals, and even gas sales. Plus, six boat launches are open 24/7, each with parking and restrooms, so getting out on the water is super easy! You can enjoy swimming at a beautiful 1,200-foot beach along Foster Joseph Sayers Reservoir. The beach is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend and has everything you need for a fun day out, including a playground, snack bar, restrooms, baby changing rooms, and plenty of parking.
